The first Saturday of the new season will conclude at Goodison Park this evening as Frank Lampard’s Everton host Chelsea.

The Toffees endured a torrid campaign last term which saw Rafa Benitez sacked in January before Lampard did just enough to keep them in the Premier League.

Optimism on Merseyside has not grown much over the summer following a difficult window and some poor pre-season results.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have gone big in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly as they look to challenge for the title this term.

The Blues will be eager to pile more misery for their legendary midfielder Lampard but only took one point off Everton last term.

This Premier League clash will take place on Saturday, August 6 and will kick-off at 5:30pm.

The clash at Goodison Park will be broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League from 5pm.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out for Everton with a knee injury while fellow striker Salomon Rondon is suspended.

Andre Gomes, Tom Davies, and Andros Townsend are also out and Seamus Coleman could be missing too with a groin injury.

New signing Dwight McNeil scored twice for Everton in pre-season last week and is likely to start.

Chelsea have a fully fit squad going into the new campaign and summer signings Sterling and Koulibaly could start.

Conor Gallagher could get his first minutes in a Blues shirt.
